Samovar is a curriculum proposal for adult learners who use Russian with relatives, partners or public institutions. It is based on Dmitrii's teaching notes and remains at the concept stage.
Intended learner
The proposal considers emigrants, children of emigrants and partners of Russian speakers. The situations are adult and practical: speaking with a parent, reading a letter, attending an appointment or resolving a misunderstanding.
Curriculum unit
A lesson begins with a scene. The plan records where the exchange happens, who is speaking, what needs to be done, which register fits and which repair phrase can help after a missed word.
Grammar and vocabulary are selected for that scene. A session may cover a pharmacy visit, a parent-teacher call, a family disagreement or an administrative letter.
Proposed format
The current proposal uses small groups and cohorts lasting six to eight weeks. Pair work gives learners time to ask for clarification, revise a reply and hear how another person handles the same situation. A homework task may be one message connected to the week's scene.
These are curriculum decisions recorded for review. They have not been evaluated through a public cohort.
Name
The samovar refers to a shared kitchen table and the turn-taking that happens around it. The name places conversation and company at the centre of the course proposal.
Current status
There is no public cohort page, price or measured learning outcome. This page documents the intended learner, curriculum unit and format while the proposal is still being developed.
